Can I Wear Hair Toppers Every Day?

Yes, of course. After receiving the hair topper, you may want to wear it every day, as this can help show your beauty. You may want to know if this will be harmful to my scalp or if this will damage my bio hair. Hair toppers are a gorgeous & safe way to restore confidence to women who feel self-conscious due to hair loss or dissatisfaction with their hair.

However, using them improperly may damage your bio hair. To avoid damage from wearing hair toppers, we’d suggest as below:

Always be slow and gentle while applying/removing a hair topper. Try to do the clip-in again if you feel any stress on your hair. Here is a YouTube video for how to apply and remove a hair topper correctly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNULcj2MJIw&t=6s

Make sure the topper base is large enough. We do recommend adding 1” extra for the base size you measured to ensure the clips will be on the healthier hair instead of the fragile hair.

Give your hair a relax. Try to avoid sleeping in your topper. You may take it out at the end of the day to give your hair a chance to recuperate.

Please notice, that the more often you use your hair topper, the shorter lifespan it will be. Even if you take care when using it, there will be damage caused by normal wear and tear with every chance.

How Should I Care for My Topper?

Washing: Taking good care of your hair topper by washing it correctly can help it to last longer. Depending on how often you wear a topper determines how often you will need to wash it. For daily use, we recommend you wash it every 2-4 weeks, depending on your level of activity. Please follow the instructions on this blog for how to wash:

Styling: You can use heat (blow-dry and straightener/curling) on your human hair topper/wig, but be sure to use a low heat setting. The less heat you use, the longer your piece can feel like new. It is recommended that your piece is styled on a block head (mannequin head) with a clamp for ease of use. A topper should be pinned down with T pins. The pins should be inserted carefully through the clips. Do not pin through the silk area. Do not pin through any silk area or skin area. We also recommend using the heat protector while styling. You can also use hairspray on your piece. However, please do not overdo it and also wash the product out well.

Brushing: Use a paddle brush. Always start brushing from the bottom of the hair and gently work your way up. Avoid combing the hair when it’s wet, as the knots can loosen over time.

Storing: Store your piece on a mannequin head when it’s not in use to help keep its shape. Do not store your piece in direct sunlight, as this can lighten the color. Store with the clips closed and tangle free.

How Do You Sleep With a Hair Topper?

Per the above sentences we mentioned, we don’t recommend wearing a hair topper when sleeping. As your hair and scalp will need time to relax. The friction caused by tossing and turning during sleep can lead to tangling, shedding, or even damage to the topper’s fibers. To maintain the quality and longevity of your topper, it’s best to remove it before bedtime.

If you absolutely need to sleep with your topper on, consider these tips:

Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.

Brush and detangle it gently before and after sleeping.

Try to use a headband, the one you always use when washing your face, to help secure the topper and keep it in place.

Can You Sleep on a Topper Alone?

As just saying, we don’t recommend wearing a topper when sleeping. Hair toppers Hair toppers are not specifically designed for overnight wear. If you want to do so, we would recommend the following two types of products.

Glue Down Hair Toppers: Hair toppers with glue applied will help to keep toppers in place, which will reduce the pulling.

Try to use the integrated ones. These products are designed for overnight wearing, they don’t need to be applied and taken down every day. But as these products are hard to use, you need to apply them in a specialized salon.

Hair toppers are versatile, stylish, and practical. By understanding how to care for them and integrate them into your daily routine, you can enjoy a natural and polished look with ease. These tips ensure your topper remains in top condition and has a longer lifespan while giving you the perfect hair day every day.
